Donald Crowhurst
Donald Crowhurst
The story of an amateur sailor who disappeared during a single-handed, round-the-world yacht race.
He was competing in the 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, when soon after departing, his ship began taking on water and he wrote it would probably sink in heavy seas.
He secretly abandoned the race while reporting false positions, in an attempt to appear to complete a circumnavigation without actually doing so.

If you would like to know more about the story of the last voyage of Donald Crowhurst, you can buy our booklet at the Museum, or contact us for a copy by post for £5.
