Get involved

Teign Heritage is run entirely by volunteers. If you would like to volunteer your time and skills at the Teign Heritage Centre, we would love to hear from you.

Open afternoon / volunteers’ tea party

Teign Heritage Museum is holding a tea party on Sunday 22nd April during which you can look around the museum, talk to some of the volunteers and see all the interesting things that are involved with working and looking after the museum.  Teign Heritage belongs to the people of Teignmouth and Shaldon, all its staff work as volunteers and it is an attraction for visitors to the area. It is also used as a venue for various local clubs and activities.  During the school holidays we offer activities for children and during term time different schools arrange educational visits to the museum.

We are open from March to November on six days a week and thus we need people to help in a variety of ways to keep the museum open.  Various skills are needed including helping with the shop and visitors; organising family events and working with schools; administration and accounting; research; publicity and promotion; fundraising in different ways; maintenance work.  If you think you can help in any way and can spare 2-3 hours of your time each week why not come along between 3 pm and 6 pm on the 22nd April to the museum which is situated at the end of French Street.  Alternatively if you are unable to come on that date please ring the museum to speak to us on 01626 777041.

Please contact the Curator Lin Watson, on 01626 777041. for an informal discussion.
