Discover the story of Admiral Pellew
Edward Pellew joined the Royal Navy when he was only 13 years old. Due to his outstanding courage and tactical brilliance, he rose steadily in Rank to end his career as Admiral Sir Edward Pellew, 1st Viscount Exmouth. Teignmouth’s naval hero gained honours in his involvement in the American War of Independence, the Napoleonic Wars, the East Indies and finally was victorious at the Bombardment of Algiers in 1816. He died at his home in Teignmouth in 1833.
